Butterfly caterpillars are a curious lot ... with six legs, ten prolegs, and a habit of crawling out of their old skin, and even more oddities (at least oddities to humans), we can add another.
Caterpillars have 12 eyes. With these twelve eyes, they can basically tell light from dark.
